Nike Dunk originally released as a basketball shoe in 1985. While it
retained its classic profile, Nike SB made several modifications to the
Dunk, tailoring it to the needs of skateboarding and skaters. By the
'90s, skaters had already adopted the Dunk model, finding it in discount
bins as it was deemed outdated for basketball courts but perfect for
skating. The Nike SB Dunk eventually became one of the most advanced and
durable skate shoes of its time.
